Easy Breezy Vegan

Going vegan is not as hard as most people think. It’s just different! Once you learn how to prepare some of your favorite foods like pizza, tacos, and desserts in fewer than 10 minutes, you will realize that being vegan is not only simple, but it is also very tasty!

A Vegan Meal a Day

The key is to making the vegan journey a success is to just take one day at a time.  This is not something where you can just become vegan overnight. Just start with one meal a day. Once you are there, the health benefits and flavor will keep you on track.

Breakfast: Starting Out Right

The easiest meal is breakfast. Try starting your day with a liter of water infused with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Your body has been rejuvenating all night so the lemon water will cleanse your system and hydrate you. Then, try a fruit salad, high-protein smoothie, or gluten-free oatmeal.

Many people consume lots of dairy for breakfast like milk, eggs, and yogurt. If you are trying to break this habit, try almond milk, scrambled coconut meat, or yogurt made from almonds or coconut meat. To enhance the taste, add a little vanilla, cinnamon, or any other flavors you like. This is the first step toward stepping out of your comfort zone and becoming vegan.

Lunch: A Good Place to Go Raw

Lunch can also be a good place to start. Think about what you like to eat and then you can search for a vegan or raw vegan version of that dish.   For instance, you might type in raw vegan pizza, lasagna, or quesadilla.  There are numerous online recipes for these delicious dishes and more!

This may seem fairly easy, but you might be concerned when you are   at a restaurant.  You can still find a way to select vegan dishes as more restaurants are offering options. For example, Thai cuisine usually has lots of delicious “meat-free” options. Other restaurants typically offer side dishes that fit the bill as vegan, such as sautéed spinach, corn casserole, green beans, and asparagus.

Consider picking two or three to make a satisfying meal. Of course, whether you are at a fine dining establishment or stuck with a fast food spot, there are usually great salad options where you can enjoy hearty greens and even some fruit!

Snack it Vegan Style

For snack time, reach for a fruit basket  you can keep handy that contains bananas, apples, and oranges (or any of your favorite fruits). Consider having one for home, the office, and even the car so you always reach for something vegan.    Then, there are other types of snacks that you can add to mix it up a bit, such as hummus, all-natural spaghetti sauce, or salsa – all of which can make great meals with veggies – not to mention snacking on trail mix when you crave something crunchy and hearty. Don’t forget to always carry a bottle of lemon water to stay hydrated!

Dinner: Time to Experiment

Dinner is an opportune time to experiment with your new vegan lifestyle, including trying more sophisticated recipes.

And, with dinner comes the chance to concoct a scrumptious dessert.  Try making raw vegan sorbet with two frozen bananas, 8 ounces of water, and your favorite fruit! Sweeten it with Stevia (an herbal sweetener) and add vanilla to make it sweeter and richer!

Having a vegan day is just that easy and that delicious!
